For millions, after 5pm on Monday, the world stopped a bit. Several internet age ‘key services-Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, Maps and GPay-went down for about an hour at the same time. The outage took place in India, the United States, Canada, Europe, Central and South America. Users said they could not view their addresses, watch videos, or access their Google Cloud-saved documents held by the technology company Alphabet Inc. Google Cloud later tweeted that “due to an internal storage quota issue” the outage was caused and that the issue had been “resolved.” The interruption in all the facilities started about 5.30 pm, according to real-time failure tracker downdetector.com. YouTube was the worst affected at the height of the disruption. With over 1,518k tweets, Google was the top topic globally on Twitter, followed by Gmail with over 298K tweets.
